SCAM ALERT
CONSUMER WARNING

Fake Offer from “August-United.com” or “August-Auto.com”

September 2024

It has come to our attention that our business name and website design have been copied without our permission and are being used to operate a scam.  Under this scheme, a company using the name “August-United.com” or “August-Auto.com” contacts members of the public via text message and/or WhatsApp about remote work opportunities.  This company instructs the people it has contacted to create an account on a webpage that mimics the look of the AugustUnited.com website and to send the company periodic payments.  The company promises the people contacted will be compensated for their remote work, with a salary and a bonus.  In reality, this company keeps all the money sent by the public and pays no money for any work performed.

Unfortunately, we have learned that there have been multiple victims of this scam, and that they have experienced losses as high as several thousand dollars.

August United is not associated with this scam in any way.  August United did not provide this company with anyone’s name or contact information.  August United did not permit this company to use its business name or website design.

August United is working with law enforcement to investigate and stop this scam. August United is also taking steps to warn the public about it by providing this notice.
